Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 16, 2026
Welcome to VibeGate (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive, empowering experience using our mobile application.
This Privacy Policy explains how VibeGate collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our Android application (com.vibegate.app).
By downloading, installing, or using VibeGate, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Overview & Privacy-First Philosophy
VibeGate is designed with a privacy-first, local-first architecture.
- We do not require you to create an account, register with an email address, or provide personal credentials.
- Your personal intentions, core values, daily streaks, breathing preferences, and blocked app configurations are stored exclusively on your device in local database storage.
- We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data or device usage patterns.
2. Information We Access and How It Is Used
A. On-Device User Preferences & App Data
The following data is created by you and stored strictly on your local device (via SQLite and local device storage):
- Core Values & Mindful Actions: The values and reflections you select or create.
- Breathing & Gate Preferences: Custom timer durations (seconds to breathe).
- List of Shielded Apps: The package names of apps you choose to block.
- Engagement Metrics: Streak counters and unlock counts recorded locally.
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to external servers.
B. Sensitive & Restricted Android Permissions
1. Android AccessibilityService API (Core Functionality)
- Purpose: VibeGate uses the Android AccessibilityService API to deliver its core digital wellbeing and mindful app-blocking functionality.
- How It Works: When enabled, the service monitors window state change events solely to detect when a user-selected blocked application is brought to the foreground. Once detected, VibeGate intervenes to display your personalized breathing gate and affirmation.
- Strict Privacy Guarantee:
- The AccessibilityService is never used to read, inspect, store, or transmit personal screen content, text, messages, photos, or video.
- The AccessibilityService is never used to capture keystrokes (no keylogger functionality), passwords, or financial information.
- The AccessibilityService is never used to alter system settings without your authorization or to prevent you from uninstalling the app.
- User Control: Enabling this service is completely optional and requires your explicit authorization in Android Settings. You may disable this service at any time in your device’s Settings > Accessibility > VibeGate.
2. Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)
- Purpose: VibeGate requests package visibility to display a list of your installed applications inside the “Gates” tab so you can choose which apps you wish to shield.
- Data Handling: The list of installed applications is processed exclusively in-memory on your device. We do not transmit, collect, or store your list of installed apps on any remote server.
3. Third-Party Services & Purchases
We integrate trusted third-party SDKs to facilitate in-app purchases and subscriptions:
RevenueCat & Google Play Billing
- In-app purchases, subscriptions, and free trials are processed directly through Google Play Billing and managed via RevenueCat.
- RevenueCat generates an anonymous, randomized user identifier (e.g.,
$RCAnonymousID:...) to track subscription entitlement status (e.g., whether your Pro access or Free Trial is active). - We do not collect or store credit card numbers, banking information, or billing addresses. All financial transactions are encrypted and processed securely by Google Play.
- For more information on how RevenueCat handles data, please review the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- Local Data: Because your data is stored locally on your device, you maintain total control. You can delete all your stored data, custom values, and app preferences at any time by:
- Clearing the app’s cache and storage in Android Settings > Apps > VibeGate > Storage > Clear Data.
- Uninstalling the VibeGate application from your device.
- Subscription Data: If you cancel your subscription or request purchase history removal, you can manage active subscriptions directly within your Google Play Store account.
5. Security
We take the security of your data seriously. All communications with Google Play and RevenueCat APIs utilize standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS) encryption in transit. Because your personal reflections and habits remain on your device, they are protected by Android’s built-in application sandboxing.
6. Children’s Privacy
VibeGate is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
